Traveling to Asia: A Trip Full of Unexpected Turns

Hello Marcio here!

This month I spent two weeks in Asia. I had been looking forward to this trip for a long time, both for work and for the experience itself. And while it truly became a journey to remember, it didn’t exactly start off smoothly.

No Show

Upon arriving at the airport in Hong Kong, I spent three hours waiting for a suitcase that never showed up. Not ideal, especially when you're traveling for work and all your gear and merch happen to be in that one missing piece of luggage. What can you do in that moment? Take a deep breath, stay calm, and try to move forward—even if it means missing the opening of the convention.

Wait it gets better

Two days later I finally received a message that my suitcase had been found. Even then, it took quite some effort before I could actually pick it up. The relief didn’t last long, because the moment I opened it, I saw ink everywhere. It seemed like security had opened the ziplock bags and didn’t close them properly. Some of my prints and T-shirts were damaged—a frustrating setback, especially since half of the convention was already over.

Despite all of this, Hong Kong turned out to be an incredible city: vibrant, energetic, and full of character. The convention itself had a great atmosphere, and that helped make up for the rocky start.

I want to extend a big thank-you to the hosts of these amazing conventions—your effort and dedication made a huge difference. And a special shout-out to my wonderful neighbors at the events, including Chris rushner, Richard handfort, and many others. Their creativity, humor, and company added so much to the experience.

This trip reminded me that things don’t always go as planned, and sometimes everything seems to fall apart at once. But it’s exactly in those moments that you discover resilience, flexibility, and the ability to keep seeing the good. Sometimes things fall apart so you can learn how to rise stronger.
